XReady is independent. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, ACARA or the NSW Department of Education. NAPLAN, OC and Selective are the names of other organisations' tests; XReady's papers are original practice papers written in their style.
XReady in short
XReady covers Foundation practice for Years 3 to 9, OC practice and Selective practice. Papers are on screen only and multiple-choice and number answers are marked as handed in. Written answers are marked by AI straight after hand-in, against each paper's marking guide, and labelled as a guide. Your child's name is replaced before anything is sent, and you can switch AI off.
Questions parents ask
- Which plan do I need?
- Pick the test your child is sitting. NAPLAN is for NAPLAN practice papers in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, A$9.99 a month. OC is for the OC practice papers (Year 4, the test is sat in Year 4 for Year 5 entry), A$9.99 a month, and includes the Foundation papers (NAPLAN practice). Selective is for the Selective practice papers (Year 6, the test is sat in Year 6 for Year 7 entry), A$9.99 a month, and also includes the Foundation papers. If your children are at different stages, or you are not sure yet, OC and Selective is A$14.99 a month and has every paper. Every plan is per family, covers every child in it, and starts with a 7-day free trial. You can change plan from your account page at any time.
- Which years does XReady cover?
- Foundation papers for the NAPLAN years, OC practice papers for children sitting the OC test in Year 4, and Selective practice papers for children sitting in Year 6. The pricing page lists them.
- Can I print the papers?
- The practice papers are done on screen, in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Families can print the free strategy sheets.
- Is real NAPLAN like these papers?
- NAPLAN is sat online and adapts to each student. XReady's papers are fixed papers, so they are best for practising the kinds of questions, the timing and the skills, not for guessing a band. Our Foundation papers are written to be a little harder than the released NAPLAN form we measure them against, on purpose, so the real test can feel easier. A lower mark here says nothing about the real result. XReady is practice only, not a NAPLAN mark.
- Is XReady safe for my child?
- XReady has no chat, no leaderboards, no ads and nothing for sale on a child's screen. AI marks written answers only, your child's name is replaced before anything is sent, you can switch AI off for your child, and anything worrying in a child's writing goes to a person to look at.
- How is my child's writing marked?
- Straight after hand-in, an AI marks each written answer against the paper's own marking guide or, for a short answer, its model or example answer. For every criterion it says whether it was met and quotes your child's own words. It is labelled as a guide, it is not a mark from the test makers, and a teacher may mark differently. Questions with no marking guide or example answer are not marked by AI. If you switch AI off for your child, nothing is marked by AI. Multiple-choice and number answers are marked by rules, not AI.
- Is my child's writing sent anywhere?
- AI requests are processed by Anthropic in the United States. Only the child's answer, the question and the paper's marking guide or example answer are sent. The child's name is replaced first, and we send no email address, school or other personal details. The child's answer is checked for anything worrying before it goes, and a worrying answer is held for a person to look at instead of being marked.
- What is “Try a similar one”?
- After a paper, under many maths questions, your child can press it for a new question on the same skill with different numbers, then see the working step by step. It is made by rules, with no AI, never changes the paper's marks, and is on 805 of 1,812 maths questions.
- Does XReady have rewards?
- Yes. Your child earns 3D medals for the practice they do, such as a first paper, three days of practice in a week or beating their own best. Nothing is bought, nothing expires, and there are no points or leaderboards.
- Does XReady give my child a score estimate?
- No. XReady shows marks and topics. It does not give an estimate or a rank, because a fair estimate needs national results that XReady does not have.
- What is an OC or Selective practice paper?
- OC practice papers practise the kinds of questions used for Opportunity Class entry (the OC test is sat in Year 4 for Year 5 entry). Selective practice papers practise the kinds of questions used for selective high school entry (sat in Year 6 for Year 7 entry).
